Hawker Hurricanes PZ851, PZ765 and PZ854 belonging to No.11 AFU. Crashed into Tintwhistle Knarr near Glossop on the 22nd february 1945 while practicing formation flying. They entered what was described as Industrial haze to the east of Manchester which resulted in them failing to see the high ground ahead of them.*

Belonging to the 469th Fighter Training group. Crashed into Tintwhistle Knarr on 10th May 1944 while taking part in a Cine Gun and single engine flying practice. After losing his flight in cloud the Pilot Flt Off Hugh Jones was given permission to join another flight who were doing a cross country navigation exercise. This flight also entered cloud and was ordered to turn back but Flt Off Jones became disorientated in the cloud and crashed.*
