Crashsite of either XX728 or XX731 belonging to 6 Squadron RAF. Aircraft collided during a low level manouvre on 7th October 1985. The pilot of XX731 ejected safely but the Pilot of XX728 was killed.
Mcdonnel Douglas Phantom XV477
Belonging to 6 Squadron RAF, crashed on 20th November 1972. XV477 was one of a pair of Phantoms returning to base after a low level sortie. Approaching the Pennines they encountered bad weather and carried out a low level abort procedure but during the climb XV477 collided with high ground.
