Belonging to No 150 Squadron RAF, crashed on 15th January 1942 after becoming lost due to the failure of it's navigation aids while returning to RAF Snaith following a bombing raid to Hamburg. It flew too far north and collided with the lower slopes of the Cheviot which was concealed in low lying snow clouds.
