Crashed on 29th May 1945 while leading a formation of 23 P-51 Mustangs which were being delivered from the south east of England to Liverpool for eventual transportation to the Far East. The formation became disorientated in cloud and split up with some Pilots continuing to Liverpool and some returning to base. Two however including this one crashed while descending through cloud in an attempt to gain a fix on their location.*

Belonging to the 709th Bombardment Squadron, 337th Bombardment Group, USAAF. The B-17 named 'Barbara Jane' had just had two new engines fitted and was on a flight around it's home base in Suffolk to run in the engines. The crew decided to fly to Manchester where it is suggested one of them had a girlfreind, but on approaching the Pennines they became lost in deteriating visibility and collided with high ground while trying to fly below the cloud.*

Belonging to No 66 Sqn RAF, Crashed on 8th December 1950 while on a night time cross country exercise out pf RAF Linton on Ouse. After becoming lost and running low on fuel the Pilot attempted a force landing but after almost colliding with a Factory chimney he decided to abandon the aircraft instead. The Meteor flew on for a while before diving into the ground.*

Belonging to No 102 FTS RAF, crashed on 25th July 1951 whiile on a training flight out of RAF Finningly. After running low on fuel the Pilot made a successfull wheels up landing on the moor but after he safely exited the jet it caught fire and burnt out.*
